On April 16, 2019, Aran Organization’s team participated in a series of activities held in Koy Sanjaq to commemorate Kurdistan Region Environment Day.

Event Overview

The day began at 9:00 AM, starting with a statement delivered by Mr. Ismail Abdullah, the Director of the Tourist Administration of Koy Sanjaq, who addressed the importance of environmental and climate issues. His remarks emphasized the need for collective action to protect the environment.

Following this, Mr. Tariq Haydar, the surrogate mayor of Koy Sanjaq, spoke about the significance of Environment Day and the responsibilities of citizens in safeguarding the environment.

Key Activities

The main part of the event involved community-driven environmental clean-up efforts. Participants, including Aran’s team and local students, took part in activities such as:

  • Rubbish collection on Haiba Sultan Mountain
  • Clearing Hanary Road, with support from students of the Geographic Faculty of Koya University

These activities aimed to raise awareness of environmental protection and foster a sense of responsibility among the community members.
