On April 4, 2019, Aran Organization initiated a significant questionnaire process in Halabja and Ranya districts. The questionnaire aimed to gather public opinions regarding the interference of political parties in government matters. This initiative is part of a larger package targeting three districts: Halabja, Erbil, and Ranya.

Objective of the Questionnaire

The primary goal of this questionnaire is to collect people’s viewpoints on political party intervention in government affairs. The findings will contribute to Aran Organization’s ongoing efforts to amend existing laws governing political party activities in both the Kurdistan Region and the federal government of Iraq. The aim is to create a more effective and transparent legal framework that reduces political party interference in government decisions and ensures better governance.

Implementation and Support

The questionnaire process is being carried out by Aran’s voluntary groups, who are actively engaging with the communities in Halabja, Ranya, and Erbil to gather comprehensive data.

This initiative is supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), further strengthening Aran Organization’s commitment to promoting democratic principles and political reform in the region.

Expected Outcomes

The questionnaire aims to provide valuable insights into public sentiment regarding political party interference and contribute to efforts for law reform in the region. The results will be used to advocate for changes in the political landscape, fostering greater independence and transparency in governance.
